Role Overview

As an HR Intern at The Yoga Journey, you will play a vital role in supporting the human resources function of our growing startup. You’ll gain firsthand experience in recruitment, employee engagement, policy development, and organizational culture-building. This is an excellent opportunity to develop foundational HR skills while contributing to the success of a purpose-driven company.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Recruitment Support:
    • Assist in sourcing, screening, and coordinating interviews for potential candidates.
    • Draft job descriptions and post them on free job boards and social media platforms.
    • Maintain candidate databases and track application progress.
  2. Onboarding & Offboarding:
    • Help design and implement onboarding processes for new hires and interns.
    • Prepare welcome materials and ensure smooth integration into the team.
    • Assist with exit interviews and offboarding procedures.
  3. Employee Engagement:
    • Support initiatives to boost team morale and foster a positive workplace culture.
    • Organize virtual or in-person team-building activities and events.
    • Gather feedback from employees through surveys or one-on-one check-ins.
  4. Policy Development:
    • Assist in drafting and updating HR policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with labor laws and industry regulations (under guidance).
    • Conduct research on best practices for small businesses/startups.
  5. Administrative Tasks:
    • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.
    • Assist with payroll-related tasks (e.g., tracking hours for interns).
    • Coordinate internal communications, such as newsletters or announcements.
  6. Learning & Development:
    • Research and recommend training programs or workshops for employees.
    • Assist in organizing professional development sessions for the team.
  7. Project-Based Work:
    • Contribute to special HR projects, such as diversity and inclusion initiatives or wellness programs.
    • Analyze data related to employee satisfaction and retention.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Students or recent graduates pursuing degrees in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HR tools (e.g., Google Forms, Slack).
  • Passion for wellness, yoga, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic startup environment.
